The word combination, clustering illusion, describes a natural human tendency to look for and find patterns, even if there are existing none. Furthermore it can also be described as the human ability to find patterns which have to come up in a bigger collection of Data and to attribute them meaning.
In cooperation with the “Künstlerhaus” (arthouse) of Vienna this peace was realized in the series imaginary lab as another viable subjective reality. An imagination as so man, directly exported from collective experience of surrounding. Modulated and estranged “clustering ilusion” leaves the viewer to his own subjective experiences and influences of perception.
The space – consuming installation invites the viewers to interfere with the occurences of the installation changing the room.
The viewer enters the room seeing many small points moving like swarms across the semi transparant glass-wall. At the end of the room there is a detailed projection moving. around itself. The room is filled with a dark and deep noise.
Passing by the projected points the viewer realizes that it’s possible to interfere with them and change their course. Clusters of white dots are collected through the movement of the interfering person. An expectation is created.
The deeper the person enters the room, the smaller their influence on the projection becomes. Arriving at the last object, the detailed projection resembling an abstract cloudish object, no interference is possible any more. The object interferes with the sound only.
This whole scenery is also viewable from the outside of the gallery thorugh the semi transparent glass-wall.
